Teleconference, chat, SMS, or use another non-paper medium whenever possible for business correspondence, presentations, and proposals; Subsidize employees’ public transit expenses and promote bicycling and walking to office; Use office supplies and paper made from recycled or sustainably produced materials; Use ceramic or glass dishware for hot and cold beverages and dishes and metal cutlery provided by the company for serving food; Limit domestic business travel to rail and public transportation and use compact hybrid sedans from a car-sharing service when necessary; Use natural light whenever possible and high-efficiency fixtures when artificial lighting is required; Turn off lights and equipment that is not in use; Program the office thermostat for maximum efficiency; Design from sustainable sources and for sustainable use; Prototype using recycled or repurposed materials; Give preference to sustainable suppliers and vendors; Educate employees, vendors, partners, and clients about sustainability and our impact on the planet and encourage them to get involved in change; Reward employees’ personal sustainability projects and solicit constructive input on further reducing environmental impact; Trade, donate, or recycle surplus or outdated equipment; Donate time and resources to the betterment of the community and mankind at large; Reduce, reuse, and recycle.
